Ankylosing Spondylitis

In this condition the bones of the spine fuse, causing stiffness and lower back pain. It also affects the shoulders, ankles, knees, eyes, heart and lungs. Ankylosing Spondylitis is in the same group of arthritic conditions as Psoriatic arthritis, Crohn's disease (arthritis from inflammatory bowel diseases), and Reactive arthritis (stiffness in the joints following a bacterial, viral or other infection). Bony spurs can grow out from both sides of vertebrae if Ankylosing spondylitis is left untreated.
